Mumbai Indians Struggle in IPL 2021 makes the IPL more open to other teams as they won the IPL 5 times. They are the most consistent side in the IPL tournament. Mumbai have fire powers in every department in their team. But in 2021 they only won 4 matches in their first 10 matches and their middle-order struggle continues.
Mumbai Indians Strong Line-up
Mumbai had been the best IPL for a long time. As they have solid openers like Indian superstar Rohit Sharma and South African wicket-keeper batsman Quinton De Cock. In most of the matches, they gave Mumbai the start they needed. At the No.3 position, they have the most innovative batsman of India like Suryakumar Yadav. Then there is a young aggressive talent like Ishan Kishan.
In the middle l-order, they have six-hitting machines like Kieron Pollard and Hardik Pandya. Krunal Pandya, a spinning all-rounder also present there.
The bowling options are world-class too. Indian Premier fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah, New Zealand left-hand pacers Trent Boult and Adam Milne can get through any batting line-up. The spinners like Rahul Chahar and Jayant Yadav can also contribute.
The Mumbai Indians Middle-Order struggle
Their openers are playing well but after the openers, nobody took responsibility to win a match for Mumbai Indians. But they somehow managed to beat Punjab Kings by 6 wickets to be still alive in this tournament.
Most of the players didn’t score many runs in this years IPL.

Among Mumbai players, no one is in the race of The Orange Cap. Although the bowlers are doing pretty hard work to keep Mumbai in almost every match. But the beating display was disappointing this year by Mumbai Indians. They did win the previous match against Kings but their Net Run Rate is still very low in comparison to their competitor Kolkata Knight Riders.
Does the Inclusion of Sourav Tiwary will improve Mumbai’s chance
Sourav Tiwary is the only middle-order batsman of Mumbai who has been playing well this year. So Mumbai left Kishan to make a place for him and he delivered against Kings in a difficult situation. Although he couldn’t finish the match his innings set the tone for Mumbai to win it. Then short but crucial innings from Hardik Pandya and Kieron Pollard finished the match for Indians.
We could see Sourav in all the remaining matches of Mumbai if he keeps playing well. But I feel bad for Kishan as he has been selected for the T20 world cup team of India.
Does Mumbai still has a chance to qualify for the playoffs
As it is the 5 time Champion Mumbai Indians so they still have a good chance to fight for their place in the playoffs. They have done it before and can do the same again. But the circumstances are different as their batsmen are still not comfortable winning a match single-handedly. But if they came back strong and best Delhi Capitals in the next match so they can try to improve their Net Run Rate to go ahead from Kolkata in the Points table. But I would say I don’t think that Mumbai can Qualify. It’s my personal opinion. But the future can be different for Mumbai.
