Samson was named its captain for the 2021 season of the IPL after the Rajasthan Royals released the last edition of the team, captain Steve Smith, in January this year.
Rajasthan Royals said, “I am very keen to lead the Royals. Certainly, a lot of ideas are going through my mind, but I would like to keep it simple. I am happy to play this role.” Quoting Samson as saying.

“To be very honest, until last year, I never felt that I could possibly be the leader of the Royals,” he said.
Sangakkara is arguably the best wicket-keeper batsman to have ever produced cricket. Samson not only learns wicket-keeping skills but also looks at every aspect of the former Sri Lankan captain’s game that has made him one of the best batsmen of the modern era.
Samson said, “My first memory of Sanga is definitely his cover drive and I loved his batting. It is a dream and it is true that Kumar will team up with a legendary player like Sangakkara.”
“If you see people like you Rahul Dravid, Sangakkara, Mahela Jayawardene, or Ricky Ponting, he is a legend of his time. Everyone was equally balanced and everything they did seemed perfect. I am waiting to learn every side of Sangakkara in this IPL season.
The IPL will begin on April 9 with the horns of the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Mumbai Indians opener of the tournament. Rajasthan Royals will play their first match against Punjab Kings on 12 April in Mumbai.
